Okay, these Isabel Marants are not completely white, and the suede will only get dirtier and therefor darker. But these look amazing and have a build-in wedge that lengthen your legs. I want these. And I need $660.

CD Sprint

Finally made it to the stores again. And this is the only thing I bought this sale-period. I've been wanting these shoes for six months now. I'm crazy for white sneakers, and the fact that these are all-leather is even better!

My sister got interviewed by girl-scene.nl. I love her interview and answers. Too bad some of the comments below are quite childish. Nonetheless, I don't care. My sister always looks amazing!

New York City - Part Two

On tuesday I read on my sister's Facebook that there was an amazing designer outlet nearby NYC and since it was too hot outside to go to the Central Park Zoo -all animals would be too lazy to even move- we decided to give it a shot and check it out.

The shuttle bus would pick us up at our hotel at 11AM so we still had some time to hang out at Bryant Park, one of my favorite locations in the city and just 2 blocks away from our hotel. The yoga classes at the park seemed like fun.

After a stop at a look-out over the Hudson river and Harlem and a one hour-drive, we arrived at the outlet. I must admit that the outlet in my hometown tops the American one qua look and feel. This one didn't even have trees or green areas. The brands at the Woodbury Outlet are very cool though: Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, YSL... My boyfriend did some amazing deals, I on the other hand found nothing that I liked. Again, not much in my size. And I wasn't just going to buy anything just because it's 75% off. But it was nice to see another side of NY/New Jersey, since I never visited a traditional US town before.

That evening my boyfriend and I picked up some (healthy!) food at the local deli and dined in Bryan Park again. There were even more people in the park than there were in the morning, yet the atmosphere there was even pleasant. We spent our entire evening there that day and it really is my favorite moment of our whole trip, just the two of us hidden in the megacity.

PS: There is something wrong with the battery of my Macbook Pro so I'm taking it to the shop to get it fix. So I probably won't be able to put up any new pictures or posts for a couple of days.

At Woodbury 

Rodarte

Just a quick post about another designer duo that was inspired by film; the Rodarte-sisters have designed another shirt-collection (remember their sweatshirts earlier?) and this time to honor the 50th anniversary of À Bout De Souffle, yes another fashion film. The duo will remake the iconic New York Herald Tribune-shirt Jean Seberg wore next to the Dior dress (Bruzzi, 1997, p. 7).

In just a few days the shirt will be available at Barneys. Yes, I'm adding it to my NYC-wish list, since I will not able to get the Fashion's Night Out-shirt this year.

Mark the 16th of March on your calendars, 'cause the third chapter of Dior's fashion film, Lady Blue Shanghai, will be revealed then. I must admit that those mini-movies and campaign images aren't helping out when it comes to picking out a favorite color for my future Lady Dior...

It was so much fun and we received some amazing news that day, so keep a close eye on both our blogs, because as soon as we get a proper confirmation, we'll tell you all about it. Voici Paris Haute Couture - exhibit Den Haag

During our weekend in Den Haag, by accident I discovered that there was an exhibit about haute couture in the local museum, so I made my boyfriend promise that he would take me to Voici Paris Haute Couture the next day. It was amazing; the first room we entered, presented Chanel's SS09 pieces. The room after that Worth, then Paul Poiret, Vionnet and vintage Chanel, the room after that Dior, Balenciaga and Givenchy -the dress from Breakfast at Tiffany's!-and next Jean Paul Gaultier and Armani Privé.... It truly was amazing and I was in complete awe of the amount of detail in those garments.

One of my favorite fashion exhibits ever, and definitely a must-see ...

Remember the Dior-song, by Marion Cotillard? The music video premieres tomorrow. 




And I can't help but wonder; 
is she wearing a Dior Homme-suit?

Finally found that Dior music video online! It is called The Eyes of Mars, and as stated before Marion Cotillard sings this song written by Franz Ferdinand.

Still don't know what to think about it. Maybe I expected something else of a Dior song, maybe it will grown on me...

Oh, and I wish it had a proper music video as well.

Yesterday the first music video by Dior would premiere online, as I stated before. So I checked ladydior.com more than regularly. I found the making of-video and the first campaign images, but no music video!

What happened? Is it online somewhere else?

I just found the making of-video of Lady Rouge, the second Dior short film -or is it the music video?- I told you about the other day.

I have posted many Chanel short films, when I started this blog. But I actually prefer the Dior one, since it was very professionally done and reminded me of a film noir. Last year, Dior launched a series of extra-long commercials, starring Marion Cotillard and off course many luxurious items of the French couture house, such as the Lady Dior -since that's the bag the saga is about. (no subtle product placement here, but who cares...)

Rumor goes that David Lynch will be directing the second chapter called The Lady Rouge. Again a great example of how film and fashion interact, creatively as well as commercially. And once again, great thesis-material. I can't wait to study the sequel for my upcoming chapters.

So here is part one, if you missed it by any chance last year.

Oh and I demand Marion's strappy heels.

PS: On January 14th, the first Dior music video will premiere. The

song called Lady Rouge -off course!- is written by Franz Ferdinand

and Nine-star Marion C.will be singing it. (WWD)

Maison Chaplin posted a message the other day that Dior recently opened their first watches/jewelry store in Geneva. And if you check their latest collections on the Dior Fine Jewelry-website, you'll probably be dying to see the store's windows and what's inside them.

The blog post by Maison Chaplin, inspired me to pull out an old Dior necklace of ours and hopefully wear it more often. I got it a couple of years ago at Loja Das Meias, a very nice multi-brand store in Lisbon. I think such a fun and floral accessory will give any serious, all-black outfit an extra touch. No idea what kind of material or series this particular necklace is, but if I remember properly, it didn't cost that much. So, if you spot any -online e.g.-, please get back to me.

Now, that first post was a pretty formal introduction.

I hope that this didn't set the tone for what I am planning to do with this blog.

Ever since I started to work on my thesis, I've discovered many cool things on how fashion and film interact.

And since I believe that knowledge should be shared, in stead of gathering dust in some library basement, I am going to post some of my findings here.

So, I just finished my first chapter on the 'birth' of the fashion film.

Did you know that at the start of the last century newsreels shown in theaters finally offered the fashion minded crowd a way to literally look into the latest trends? Until then, they could only read about them in newspapers and fashion magazines. Later these cinémagazines evolved and small story lines were incorporated around these fashion shows.

Movies like Funny Face or The Devil Wears Prada took this to the next level, but you all know that, don't you?

But did you know that British Pathé has an online archive with hundreds of these fashion news items, for instance on Dior and Pucci?
