Zara - Cape

Okay, so I didn't freeze to death the past few days. I just lack patience in general to be ordering online and waiting around for my package to arrive. (The box came all the way from Madrid, btw.)

So given that impatience, I just had to wear my brand new cape already the next day. And I must admit, I'm already addicted to this warm and comfy woolen piece, 'cause I barely took it off yesterday. But, to avoid looking like some huge batman-fan, I decided for myself that a few rules apply when wearing the cape -probably for me to break in a few weeks time:
- Under no circumstances should this cape be worn without heels.
- Preferably, wear with tights or a legging in stead of a pair of jeans.
- Find yourself a nice black woolen sweater to wear underneath 'cause putting on two jackets in mid-fall is a little too much...

By the way, did I mention I'm crazy for anything with a cape?

Worn with my black short Burberry-trench, my Louis Vuitton-scarf, a Zara-legging, Ash-booties and my caviar 2.55-purse. 

NB: Seeing these pictures taken at an apple plantation, for some reason the Givenchy-ad pops to mind.  

Winter Boots

I just broke rule number one when it comes to wearing my cape. These harsh winter times made my buy some snow boots yesterday at some messy little fake everything-store yesterday. My boyfriend keeps laughing at me, since he says it really is not my style when it comes to shoes, and he's right but hey at least my 50$ fake fur-boots survived our walk in the snow a million times longer than his silver Yves Saint Laurent sneakers.

By the way, I'm still looking for the perfect kind of flat black leather riding boots and the ones by Hermès are definitely out of my league. Does anyone know a nice alternative?

Roberto Cavalli FW 2011

Since my boyfriend is out carting, I decided to spend this dull sunday afternoon catching up with what's happened in the 'fashion world' the past few weeks. I'm watching all of the videos on Style.com.

And oh, I love Lanvin's 'cape-dresses' and Gucci's vintage feel when it comes to this seasons bags and furs -although I'm not a 70's type of girl, I want that red chiffon dress!-

But my favorite collection has to be Cavalli's: I loved the combo of embroideries and silk! As you may know, last year I was obsessed with the Italian house's silky leopard scarf and now, this year the items Cavalli designed feel like an extension of that. Furthermore, I think Eva is completely right: some looks do feel like armor. They immediately reminded me of late medieval fashion and oriental influences. The girls looked like they just came back from the crusades wearing elaborate decorated doublets, even though the clothes had a very modern cut. These are the pieces I would fight for, I want them in all-black though.

Btw. I don't know why but when I watched the video again, Lily Donaldson-look in Etro Spring Summer 2008 flashed through my mind.

Givenchy Couture

After last fall, I had high hopes for Givenchy couture show and judging from these pictures the pieces were stunning as ever. Just like Lagerfeld, Riccardo Tisci chose to cover some items in bright colored sequins, and he also continued the geometrical prints of his Spring/Summer 2010 collection. I love it. Plus, I'm sucker for anything cape'y.

My all-time favorite Givenchy couture-piece still is this piece below, though. I'm not sure if I ever want to get married, but if I do, this dress will do just fine. (Fall 2009)
